Unofficial feedback!

Was in Waterstones today as I needed a copy of my book and it would have taken ages to go through the publisher to get one. Was incognito (ie in old clothes, little make-up, messy hair…ok, I was looking my normal self) as I felt a little silly buying my own book. The lady on the desk said that I looked a lot like the person who wrote the book, so I had to come clean. I was surprised she recognised me, to be honest, as I usually blend into the background. She happened to mention the cover of Karma, and that it would be better with a different cover. If you’ve read my blogs from the start, you’ll know that I’m not keen on the cover and far prefer the one I designed (well, I would say that, wouldn’t I?) Now though, I feel like I have a case. I wish I could dig out a copy of the cover that I designed – although rough, I loved it! Will have a look on some old disks and see if I can find it.

Have had a response from my new contact at DA. I’m delighted to resume communication, and have re-addressed my questions and concerns, in the hope that they are now better placed to give me the answers that I need. For some reason, generally people mistakenly think I am a pushover/soft/thick (delete as applicable). I’m not exactly sure why but it’s been the case since I was young. Maybe it’s because of the way I look or dress, or perhaps the way that I talk or act? Never judge a book by its cover…
